It has been my dream for many years to dedicate a website to my father and his life. I wanted to be sure the young people remember the life of my father and all he sacrificed for our community. He is a leader, a pioneer and an artist. I have been blessed to be able to spend the last few years together-listening to his stories, archiving his materials, traveling with him and attending meeting and events together.

Three words he always repeated were you had to have vision, inspiration and perseverance.
He has always had a clear vision for the future.
His inspiration is to make a change in our community.
He persevered in spite of so many obstacles and failures.

I learned.
One person can make a difference in the world.
It is never too late to keep your dream alive.
Sometimes there has to be sacrifice to get to your goals.
Work with your gifts.
Surround yourself with positive supporters.
Sometimes there are many failures before one achieves the successes.

My father is a man full of interests in art and music.
He loves Cuban music.
He hung out at Central Avenue-listening to the jazz of the area.
Mariachi music is in his soul.
He appreciated the muralists: Rivera, Siqueiros, and Mata.
He painted on his own – including a beautiful picture of my dog to me.
He used these artistic interests in his work.

He is full of charisma.
People remember him.
He can shake up a crowd.
He still receives standing ovations.
The work is never done.
He will continue until his last breath.

Getting ever so close to 90, he continues to speak out on immigration issues and the future of the Mexican American Community.
The community owes him the honor of breaking down barriers and speaking out for all of us.
For being brave and fearless;
of being a first.
This is my honor to him.

I hope you take the time to explore the site and come back as we will have monthly commentary from my father and an updated list of events.
